NYT Sunday Puzzle – 8/1/10: This Time, I Guessed Right!

Last week, I was two spaces shy of completion. I’ve never read Jean Auel’s The Clan of the Cave Bear, so I didn’t know the heroine’s name. I took a guess and was wrong. (In case you want to know, it’s Ayla.)

This week, I was one space away from completion. I’d never heard of “Dos Equis” (95 Down), so I had no clue that it was a beer.  Nor did I know the last name of the English priest who wrote “Good King Wenceslas” (120 Across).  I had all the letters of the priest’s name except the first. I guessed that it was “Neale.” The “N” gave me the other correct answer — Corona. That’s a beer I’ve heard of.

If you have not read “Clan of the Cave Bear” I VERY highly recommend it. It is probably one of the best books I have ever read. Actually , I read it again every summer…and go through the whole series.

Hi Nursemegg, How nice to see you here! The list of books I haven’t read and should, including too many of the classics, is miles long. 😦
