Hurrah! Three Michelin Stars for EMP!

Congratulations to everyone in our EMP family! We are thrilled that Michelin has finally recognized what we have always insisted you deserve: three stars! You are now ranked where you truly belong – among the world’s top restaurants in Michelin’s astral firmament. As my elementary school principal used to write at the bottom of my report cards when I got straight A’s: We are proud of you!

There is, of course, more huge news. We congratulate and send our very best wishes to Will Guidara and Daniel Humm on their acquisition of EMP. We have not the slightest doubt that under their dual ownership, the kitchen and front-of-the-house staffs will continue to perform at the very highest level, providing us and every patron ever more exquisite dining experiences in the years to come.

Congrats also to James Kent on being appointed EMP’s Chef de Cuisine and to Abram Bissell who will be Chef de Cuisine at NoMad when it opens early next year. Both these young men are not only exceedingly talented but exceedingly nice as well.

Sadly, we must bid “Au revoir!” to John Regan, who is leaving his post as EMP’s Wine Director. John is a delightful guy, and his wine pairing ability is supreme. We will miss him but wish him the very best of luck in his new position as Wine Director for Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.

Finally, we look forward to welcoming and getting to know EMP’s new Wine Director, Dustin Wilson.

    Hi, rgr! Your posts about emp lead me to do lunch last october and i loved it. I’m taking my sisters monday. I’ve seen a relatively recent emp post on chow hound, but wanted to ask you if there is anything in particular you could recommend. Also, I’ve gathered from the recent posts that they have replaced the extra dessert at the end of the meal with macroons, which I’m slightly disappointed about because the dessert we got last year was really what made the meal over the top for us and I wanted my sisters to experience it. Do you know if/why they’ve switched?
