Happy New Year 2015!

Tempus fugit! The older I get, the faster the years seems to go. And so in a flash, 2014 is done.

As is our custom on New Year’s Eve, we were at home in NJ enjoying our annual fondue as we listened to the WQXR year-end Classical Countdown, and at midnight watching the ball drop in Times Square.

In case you’re wondering how the Classical Countdown turned out, once again as it has for as long as I can remember, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 came out on top. But the astounding surprise was what came in at No. 2: The Planets, by Gustav Holst. Last year, it was No. 76. Honestly, not a favorite of mine.

Wishing everyone a very happy and healthy 2015!

Holst is not my favorite either. And that ice cream soda looks fantastic! Happy new year! See you soon.

I love black and white ice cream sodas! I make them often alternating with the classic egg cream — my favorite drink– using Fox’s U-bet chocolate syrup, of course. Last Passover, the company came out with a new “Special Dark” chocolate syrup which gives both drinks a different and delicious taste from the usual syrup. That’s what I used here.

Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

    Happy New Year!

P.S. If you’re in the mood for classical music, you can listen to QXR anywhere in the world you happen to be via their website or app.
