Following a spectacular lunch at Eleven Madison Park yesterday, we made our way uptown to Alice Tully Hall to attend what has become for us a must concert in December: The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s complete Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. As you can see from the photo at the top of this post, we were lucky to get what for me were perfect seats: First row balcony dead center.
For those who may not be familiar with the Brandenburgs, there are six. Interestingly, not only does the CMS never play them in order but each year the order changes. This year is was 1, 2, 6, 3, 5, 4. In addition, the cast of musicians also changes from year to year. (Several years ago, one of the performers was a friend of ours, violinist Jessica Lee.) Regardless of which CMS member musicians are on the stage, their playing is always stellar!
I took one photo…
…then put my camera away until the concert ended and the musicians who performed No. 4 took their bows.
Immediately after the performance, we had a delicious late dinner at Lincoln.
So, a day filled with fabulous food and phenominal music. It doesn’t get much better than that!
